23 August 2022

Rosneft’s enterprises in the Volga Federal District (Samaraneftegaz, Novokuibyshevsk Refinery, Kuybyshevsk Refinery, Syzran Refinery, Saratov Refinery and Novokuibyshevsk Petrochemical Company) conducted an environmental campaign for the artificial reproduction of aquatic biological resources. Specialists from the enterprises released more than 180,000 sterlet fry into the Kuibyshev, Saratov and Volgograd reservoirs. Specialists from the Srednevolzhskiy Territorial Administration of the Federal Agency for Fishery took part in the release.

Preservation of the environment is an integral part of the corporate culture of Rosneft. The Company aims to achieve leadership positions in minimising the environmental impact and ensuring the eco-friendliness of its production and implements several comprehensive programmes for the preservation and restoration of natural resources.

The sterlet is considered a valuable fish breed and has always been an inhabitant of the Volga. As a result of Rosneft’s targeted efforts to restore the inhabitants of Volga reservoirs, the sterlet population has grown significantly.

The employees of the Company’s Samara site conduct stocking activities in rivers and reservoirs twice a year. The Company plans to release silver carp fry in the autumn.

As part of the ESG concept, Rosneft annually undertakes a range of activities and projects designed to improve the environmental performance of its operations, minimise its impact on the environment and preserving biodiversity. The Company’s employees support national environmental projects, such as Green Spring, Garden of Memory, Water of Russia, Clean Coast, Earth Hour, We Clean Up the World, and hold numerous environmental actions.
