Bashneft Air Quality Control System Receives International Accreditation

22 June 2020

Bashneft (a subsidiary of Rosneft Oil Company) has its advanced ambient air quality control system accredited according to the international standard ISO/IEC 17025-2019. The system is based on an environmental laboratory that includes two automated ambient air quality control stations.

Control stations using advanced software and hardware are installed in Ufa residential areas closest to the industrial area. The new equipment promptly defines excess of maximum permissible concentration and air chemistry to detect the source of pollution with high accuracy.

The data received on ambient air quality is automatically transmitted to the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Bashkortostan.

The international quality control system accreditation was carried out under the Air Protection Agreement between the Republic of Bashkortostan and Bashneft.

Note for Editors:

Bashneft pays special attention to environment-oriented activities. Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim features the largest in Eurasia biological wastewater treatment plant with a capacity of 84,000 cubic metres per day.

In 2019, in order to preserve water ecosystems, the Company released into Belaya River (Republic of Bashkortostan) and Bogomolov Sor Lake (Tyumen Region) over 2.5 million fries of valuable whitefish species and sterlet.

Bashneft successfully implements the initiative on oil waste disposal and recycling and carries out the long-term program for upstream pipeline upgrading and re-equipping. In 2019, the length of replaced pipeline sections increased 2.8 times compared to 2018, to reach 475 km.

Along with implementing target environment-oriented programmes, Bashneft carries out planned production capacity modernization in order to decrease environmental impact by using advanced technologies.
