Graduated from Leningrad Mining Institute named after G.V. Plekhanov (1982), with a degree in Technology and Technics of oilfields development
PhD degree, professor
Author of more than 200 scientific researches
Deserved governmental and institutional awards, including:
• Order of Honor (1998)
• Order "For Merit to the Fatherland" 4th class (2003)
• Order "For Merit to the Fatherland" 3rd class (2010)
• Order "For Merit to the Fatherland" 2nd class (2020)
• a laureate of State Prize in Science and Technics for development of the Geological Atlas of Russia (2000)
• a laureate of Prize of the Government of the Russian Federation (2009)
• Diploma of the President of the Russian Federation (2010)
Since 1994 till now – the rector of Federal State Budget Educational Institution of Higher Education “Saint-Petersburg Mining University”
Since 2015 till now – President of the National Association of Mining Engineers
He was elected to the Board of Directors of Rosneft in June 2022
